Personal Injury Law

The term “personal injury law” isn't something you'll find in any law school textbook.  Rather, it is a term that has developed from common usage in the American legal system.  It is a very general term, but basically means law having to do with injuries, losses, and damages people incur and suffer as the result of someone else's wrongdoing (which can be anything from negligence to recklessness or even an intentional act), and the pursuit of compensation against the wrongdoer, with the goal of making that injured person “whole” again (or as close to it as possible).  The most common example of a personal injury case is when someone gets hurt in an automobile collision or crash that wasn't their fault (or was at least partly the fault of someone or something else). But it also includes injuries and damages resulting from other causes, such as an assault, a dog attack, negligent care at a nursing home, negligence at a recreational facility, an object falling from a building, or slipping or tripping on a defective surface and falling.

Other types of cases (including but not limited to): Amputation, Bicycle Crashes, Bus Crashes, Car Crashes, Catastrophic Injuries, Commercial Vehicle Crashes, Head Injuries, Medical Malpractice, Motorcycle Crashes, Pedestrian Collisions, Product Liability, Spinal Cord Injuries, Truck Crashes, and Wrongful Death.
